Connection to Country

At Happy Days, we are committed to fostering respect, understanding and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives. We proudly acknowledge the Bunurong and Boonwurrung Peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn, play and grow.

Through meaningful and authentic experiences, children develop a connection to Country and an understanding that people, place, culture and the environment are deeply connected. Rather than limiting Indigenous perspectives to special events, we strive to embed them throughout everyday learning experiences.

Children explore Aboriginal cultures through storytelling, music, art, language, native plants, sustainability practices, community partnerships and meaningful discussions about caring for Country. Through our Beach Kindergarten program, nature walks and outdoor experiences, children develop an appreciation of the land, waterways and natural environments that surround our service.

Our commitment to reconciliation helps children build respect, empathy, cultural awareness and a sense of belonging while celebrating the rich and continuing cultures of Australia's First Peoples.
